No Vaseline, no dish soap and no baby oil could get this little boy's finger out of that hole.

A Little Lessons

Daddy swooped in with some tin snips and gently cut towards his little finger.  There was this critical period of time when Benjamin had to totally let go, relax, and trust that his dad would take care of him.  At first he resisted.  He didn't know if in fact everything would be okay. . . instead he wondered if he would end up one finger short.  I believe sometimes when we find ourselves stuck in one of life's predicaments we too have to stop panicking, relax, let go of how we thought things were going to go, take a leap of faith and just believe that everything is going to turn out okay.  For the record, Benjamin still has ten little fingers and looks at balls with holes in them in a whole new light.
